Childcare Provision

Nursery Provision

Nursery children may attend our lunch club, which extends the morning or afternoon nursery session by ½ hour (no cost is involved). This brings the total Nursery allocation to 15 hours per week. The lunch club is run in the mobile by additional staff and you can send a packed lunch or small snack and drink in with your child.

 Morning children who are staying for lunch club, should be collected from the mobile at 12.00 mid-day. Afternoon children who are staying for lunch club should be brought to the mobile at 12.10pm. Entry to the mobile is through the main playground.

Therefore the session times for children staying to lunch club will be;
Morning session             9.00am-12.00 mid-day
Afternoon session         12.10pm- 3.10pm

Wrap around care

We run a Breakfast Club for all children who attend Highbury Infant School and Nursery or Whitehill Junior School. There is a range of activities prepared for the children and a choice of food offered for their breakfast. The club runs from 7.45am to 9.00am, Monday to Friday, during term time at Highbury School.

The cost for the breakfast club is £4.00 per day, including breakfast, activities, a supervised walk to school for Whitehill pupils or a supervised handover to teachers for Highbury pupils. If you are interested in a place for your child, please contact the school.

Hitchin Fun Club also run an after school club and holiday club at Highbury for Highbury and Whitehill children from Reception onwards. The after school club runs from the end of the school day up until 6.00pm and through the holidays from 8.00am - 6.00pm. Please make contact with Hitchin Fun Club on 01462 450925.

If you would like to know more about Breakfast Club or Fun Club, please phone Highbury’s school office.

Please note that both Breakfast Club and Fun Club often have a waiting list. You should ring to enquire about the current situation when a school place at Highbury or Whitehill has been confirmed for your child.

We are aware that some families have recently found themselves in a difficult position with after school care. We are trying to find a longer term solution to the current lack of after school spaces for Highbury and Whitehill children. Whitehill are considering the possibility of providing separate after school care next academic year, which in turn would mean Highbury would be able to increase after school spaces for Highbury children.
In the meantime, an alternative provider (Brighter Day Kids Club based at Wymondley School) has the capacity to take some families who are not currently able to obtain an after school space at Highbury.
Please make contact about this possibility, using the contact details below;
